Veneklasen Associates (Santa Monica, CA) is recruiting a consultant engineer for its architectural acoustics team. Founded in 1947, Veneklasen Associates is one of the largest acoustical, environmental noise, AV/IT firms in the Western United States. With 20 engineering professionals and a total staff of 25, the firm is currently a team member on such diverse projects as: Encore at Wynn, California Science Center, Childrens Hospital LA, Montage Hotel & Condominiums (Beverly Hills), LA Live!, Univision studios and the USC Campus Center to name a few of over 150 active projects.
Job responsibilities require the analysis and development of recommendations for noise and vibration control for various building types:
* Review drawings and develop specific recommendations and details;
Developing clear, concise reports and design documents;
* Provide support for senior consultants with field measurements, data analysis and evaluation;
* Conduct noise measurements at a wide variety of sites;
* Interact with clients and other project team members to determine specific project requirements and collaborate toward optional technical solutions.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in acoustics, physics, engineering or a related field, along with requisite course work in acoustics, noise and vibration. 2-3 years’ professional experience in the field of acoustic consulting and/or engineering is preferred. AutoCAD, Microsoft Office software skills required. Occasional out-of-town travel; U.S. residents only.

We are seeking an individual with at least three years experience in architectural acoustics consulting to join the team in our growing Santa Monica, CA office.
The position will involve project management and collaborating with other project managers on a diversity of projects. Typical functions will include analyses of room acoustics, sound isolation, building systems (MEP) noise and vibration, and environmental noise; field observations and measurements; preparation of reports, memoranda, and drawings details; and working/coordinating directly with clients and other Jaffe Holden team members.
The successful candidate will have a B.S. in engineering, architecture, or other related field; strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; and proficiency with MS Office and AutoCad.

This position involves consulting on a range of project types requiring appropriate (to the position) levels of expertise in sound reinforcement, multi-media presentation and/or production video systems in boardrooms, theme parks, complex university systems, and especially on MCH's signature projects in the Performing Arts.
